Israel's military has resumed its attacks on the Gaza strip.

The truce between Israel and Hamas officially expired about four hours ago.

Airstrikes and heavy shelling followed, shortly after.

Negotations led by Qatar, Egypt and the U.S. to extend the truce are understood to be ongoing.
