In response to claims made by the United States that India was part of a plot to kill a Sikh activist who lived in New York, the Indian government has responded.

Indian Ministry of External Affairs spokesman Arindam Bagchi described the situation as "contrary to government policy" and stated that it is "a matter of concern."

It differs significantly from New Delhi's response to comparable accusations made by Canada regarding the death of Canadian Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in British Columbia, as Global's Mackenzie Gray notes.
