Schizoid Personality Disorder is the second PD of three in the Cluster A category of the DSM 5. Cluster A personality disorders are known as the "odd" "eccentric" cluster. There is much that could be confused with SPD and/or either co-morbid in other personality disorders or mistaken to be co-occurring with other conditions such as Autism, and more specifically Asperger's Syndrome. I believe there is a difference in how Schizoid Personality vs Asperger's is perceived or diagnosed between psychiatry and those professionals who specialize in diagnosing Autism, or Autism Spectrum Disorders (where the DSM 5 shoved) Asperger's Syndrome.
