Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV - Depressed Charge Button

Had an issue with the PHEV this week. Was seeing some weird behavior that I had never witnessed in this vehicle in 7 months of driving it. When I started it the engine kicked on for no reason I could find. No heater on, came out of the garage at 8 degrees Celsius, full charge. I noticed the dash would flash both the save and charge icons and the engine would start upon pushing the on button. WEIRD. What was going on?
