U.N. Human Rights Office spokesperson Ravina Shamdasani said on Thursday (November 30) that the LGBTQ community's situation in Russia was "just going from bad to worse," with its members fearing arrest and prosecution. Shamdasani's comments come after U.N. human rights chief Volker Turk deplored a Russian Supreme Court ruling that designates LGBTQ activists as extremists, urging Moscow to repeal laws that discriminate against that community.
