Annie Laurie

Thanks to Michael (@michaelhermiston ) for suggesting I do this one.

I'm a big fan of The Corries, so tried to copy their style:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrUaF5STwKA

Which confirmed how hard it is to play and sing guitar together!

I found this Australian paper article from 1911 discussing the history of the song:
https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/50457288

Some further 1876 background:

And this original verse:
She's backit like the peacock, she's breistit like the swan
She's jimp aboot the middle, her waist ye weel may span
Her waist ye weel may span, and she has a rolling eye
And for bonnie Annie Laurie I'd lay doun my head and die.

(I assume having a backside like a peacock is a compliment?)
