People with BPD using DBT Skills with strong IQ have emotionally lability due to unresolved core wounds. They grapple with emotional lack of emotional intelligence (EQ -EI) This means “symptom management” and still emotionally instability relationally. They may in some ways behave better but not without more & more core BPD triggered emotional dysregulation that will still persist. They remain focused on being validated and understood more than being emotionally aware of how they effect and negatively impact others. They still are predominately self-referential - focused on their still unresolved emotional lability more than they clearly understand others’ feelings.
