Louie And Clarence Meet The New Stray Rescue Cat Marge [It Doesn't Go Well]

If you are planning on introducing a cat as a new permanent resident of your home, then DO NOT DO THIS. This was a unique situation where I had a chance to trap a stray I've had an eye on. The rescue was lined up and ready to get Marge the next day, but it was 45 degrees out and I grabbed her when I could. So she won't be living here and her dynamic with Louie and Clarence doesn't really matter. She's just here for the night to eat, stay hydrated and dry and warm until she goes to her foster and the vet.

She's either pregnant, and we'll make sure they are all cared for. Or she's NOT pregnant, and she'll be spayed and treated for whatever medical ailments she has. If she adjusts to being inside, as many human-friendly cats do, she'll get adopted. If not, she'll be re-released at her old favorite outside spot. However most cats after they are spayed seem to enjoy a nice warm indoor spot by a window. So let's do a paw circle for Marge and wish her the best. And also some well wishes for Clarence (and especially Louie) for putting up with their world being upended.

Please spay and neuter your pets. And if you find a stray who isn't fixed, reach out to a local animal rescue and try to ensure that they are treated. Cat overpopulation is a horrible issue that hurts animals, humans and most importantly, our environment. Cats can make the most incredible companions and friends. But left alone to overpopulate, they are an invasive species. Their ability to breed rapidly, and ferocity combine to create a genuine problem for the areas around them. By helping to control feral populations, you can make a significant impact on the environment and in the end, climate change.
