Deepfakes and artificial intelligence is being blamed for fake, graphic images that have circulated on social media, receiving millions of views, amid the war between Israel and Hamas.

The war began Oct. 7 when Hamas attacked Israel, killing 1,200 people and taking more than 200 hostages. Israel retaliated with a barrage of airstrikes on Gaza until a temporary ceasefire was reached.
