The Deep State revealed – the CTIL files

Yesterday Michael Shellenberger, of Twitter Files fame, dropped a thread of long-form posts that fills in a large gap. This gap existed, not only in his testimony before Congress, but also in The Twitter Files themselves. Mr. Shellenberger talked a great deal about who orchestrated the scam about Russian influence in the Election of 2016. But until yesterday he did not discuss how the Censorship Industrial Complex actually began. In his latest thread, he does – and reveals specific elements of the Deep State who founded it.
The Deep State and their superhero council fantasies
Mr. Shellenberger, his colleague Matt Taibbi, and friend Alex Gutentag revealed a new document dump on their Substack page, Public. There they identified a new group, allegedly a voluntary association of “data scientists and military and intelligence veterans.” If this sounds like an association of “superheroes” from a popular comic book – that’s because someone deliberately chose a name to sound like it. This organization called itself the Cyber Threat Intelligence League, or CTIL for short. Shades of The Avengers (Marvel Comics), The Justice League of America (DC Comics), or the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen! The first two have recognizable movie franchises, while the third was an outrageous send-up of the entire superhero genre, using a collection of recognizable heroes and anti-heroes from Victorian-era literature.
And who are the members of this Cyber Threat Intelligence League? Some are professional “spooks” from the American and British intelligence communities, while others are literally intelligence contractors. Their leader: Sara-Jayne Terp, who has quite an electronic resume. She belongs to several organizations, some of which should be familiar to Twitter Files followers. Like the Atlantic Council, which has its own Twitter File. Other organizations that have approving files on her include the Stimson Center and AI for Good. And her Captain Marvel-style mission: “to quash disinformation.” Which means: to quash any revelation of the Deep State, or opposition to its goals. (Oddly – or perhaps not-so-oddly – she lacks a Wikipedia entry.)

Reaction has been overwhelmingly positive. The latest (at time of writing) comes from Lori Gallagher, who shared a freedom-of-information-like request she apparently made from the Texas Department of State.

In fact, Elon Musk has not brought everyone back – yet. CNAV still has articles containing “dark embeds” that reproduce only what text the site saved. Furthermore, contributor Bradlee Dean still does not have his account back. (We checked, only yesterday.)
Analysis
Shellenberger promised the missing pieces of the puzzle that is the Censorship Industrial Complex, and he has delivered. He hasn’t told us anything we didn’t already know or suspect. But he likely has provided evidence that could figure in the trial of Missouri v. Biden. That goes for any other case involving the “public-private partnership” that is the Censorship Industrial Complex.
CTIL, as the thread tells us, had its genesis after the Election of 2016. This latest revelation is proof positive of the Deep State thesis, and everything else Donald Trump warned us about. But it also tells us how the Deep State commands and ensures the loyalty of its minions. It does so through fantasies about their being superheroes, with super powers and “super” motives.
Furthermore, one can blame the entire cacophany of outrage at the purchase of Twitter/X by Elon Musk, on CTIL. Moreover, CTIL is still active, and controls all the other traditional Big Tech platforms. Yesterday they – or someone acting on their orders – demonetized Dr. Steve Turley on YouTube. If you play any of his videos on YouTube, and find that they play without interruption, that’s why.
But other platforms exist that are largely beyond the reach of CTIL, and therefore the Deep State. Elon Musk will have to decide where he stands. But Chris Pavlovski at Rumble, and Andrew Torba at Gab, to name two, have already decided. Now the voters will have to make their own decision along this line.
