Hell Let Loose - Work in Progess

Is there anyone out there that knows when this became the meta for selling games? When solo games became secondary? I vaguely remember around 2007 to 2008, when games were becoming more and more multiplayer (Wii), and then transformed to multiplayer online (Xbox 360/PS3). Although the gaming community was far ahead of this. Did PC games struggle to keep up with the competition from console, hence first to market wins?
This is a very tough question, but any insight is appreciated.
And yes, I'm gonna be pinging noobs and snipers with a Level 9 Assault loadout on the British faction. I just hope there is such a thing.
