Painting Without “Under-drawing” - No. 23

QUESTIONS: I noticed in the time lapse video you did of the girl with the violin that you don’t appear to do any under drawing before painting. Were you taught to do it this way or is this just an approach you came up with through years of experience? Do you teach your students to start a painting that way from the beginning or do you transition them to it after they’ve developed enough basic painting skills? KEVIN
