How many modern pastors and priests insert their own assumptions into the lessons they teach?

I attended a service last Sunday, where the pastor claimed that Noah's Ark was built in a desert. But is that biblical? And how many assumptions are included in the lessons we hear every Sunday? And how many pastors are guilty of this mistake? There are quite a few deceivers out there, but most simply fail to check their information.
