Neighbors Threatened to Call the City on Elderly Couple for Overgrown Yard

In the aftermath of the 2020 deadly tornado that struck Chattanooga, Tennessee, many neighborhoods were left with extensive damage and debris. One couple, elderly and struggling to keep up with the maintenance of their property, found themselves in the midst of this chaos. Not only did they lose several mature oak trees and a vehicle, but they were also without power for days due to the destruction of power lines in the area.

The couple's house, located in the back of the neighborhood, was one of the last to have trees cleaned up, and in the meantime, a great deal of underbrush took over their backyard. To make matters worse, their lawn had not been mowed in over two years, leaving it overgrown and unkempt.

As I was out mowing another overgrown lawn in the neighborhood, I couldn't help but notice the state of the elderly couple's property. I felt a sense of compassion and desire to help, and so I knocked on their door and offered to mow their lawn for free. They were grateful for the kind gesture and I was happy to be able to make a small difference in their lives.
