CCSA meeting summary.
3 February 2022:

1) On 1 February 2022, the TP system opened registration for the second phase of the Test and Go scheme for fully vaccinated travelers from all countries.
2) The adjusted measured for this resumed Tesr and Go include the need that travelers will have to book a hotel and to take a COVID-19 test on day 1 and day 5 of their stay in or return to Thailand. Different hotels may be booked for day 1 and day 5.
3) In cases where travelers will be in Thailand for less than 5 days, they will only have to book a hotel and make their payment for day 1.
4) Travelers should plan their trip at least 7 days in advance to allow time for the hotel and the Department of Disease Control to verify their reservation and vaccine certificate respectively.
5) CCSA understands the frustrations of having to make another hotel reservation on day 5 and would like to convey the concerns from the Ministry of Public Health on this issue.
6) In that, from the statistics we have compiled thus far, the majority of cases traveling coming from abroad – both Thais and foreigners alike – are testing positive for COVID-19 on the 4th – 7th day of their stay in Thailand. The second hotel reservation for a COVID-19 test, therefore, is a way to ensure that those of you who are entering Thailand have proper care and access to accredited hotels and medical staff who will be able to tend to your needs immediately, should you need it. We would like both incoming travelers and hotels in Thailand to be able to plan ahead and not be caught off guard. So that second hotel stay is a way to help us follow-up with all of our friends and family, to ensure that they are safe and taken care of in fact. The CCSA acknowledges that it can be inconvenient and appreciate your understanding with measures that we also hope will not have to be in place for too long.
7) To ensure that Thailand’s reopening proceeds as safely and smoothly as possible, the Director of Suvarnabhumi Airport informed that staff is being randomly tested on a weekly basis with antigen test kits (or ATKs) and those airport workers are scheduled to receive their 4th dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
8 )Yesterday, Thailand administered 289,389 doses of vaccines, increasing the accumulated number of vaccinations to more than 115.82 million doses.
9) This brings us to 75.3 percent (over 52.38 million people) of Thailand’s population which have received their first dose, 70.1 percent (over 48.7 million people) have received their second dose and 21.1 percent (over 14.7 million people) have received their third dose.
10) On 31 January 2022, Thailand kickstarted the COVID-19 vaccination drive for children aged 5 – 11 years old, with priority given to children with underlying health conditions. Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration has approved Pfizer-BioNTech for young children, while a subcommittee of the Department of Disease Control has approved Sinovac for children aged 3 – 17 years old after reviewing studies that indicate that the vaccine is efficient and safe for children and adolescents.
11) MOPH has informed that no major side effects have been reported for children aged 5 – 11 years old, which is good news.
