The US announces to the world, a 'new' atomic bomb. Why now? Propaganda?

The US does all it's weapon 'development' secretly, so when it announces, via mainstream/legacy media, that it has a new A bomb on the way because of perceived 'threats', that's propaganda - aimed at not just enemies, but it's citizens too... to fund it.
