Man Charged in Marijuana Operation

An investigation by the Lee County Sheriff's Office led to the discovery of 8 pounds of marijuana in a Cape Coral home Wednesday. In addition to the marijuana, investigators say they found $3,510 in currency, an electronic money counter, a vacuum sealer, and a 9mm handgun. According to the sheriff's office, a search warrant was served at a home in the 1700 block of SW 10th Place, where the evidence was found. 28-year-old Carmen Marchione was identified as a suspect in the case and arrested. He has been charged with with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and smuggling marijuana into the state.
