Credible's Classic Matches - Cardiff City v Portsmouth (FA Cup Final 2008)

A change of sport from Rugby Union to Football, and the chance to watch my team (Cardiff City) in their last FA Cup Final appearance way back in 2008 when they faced then Premier League side Portsmouth at Wembley in what was billed as 'The Underdog Final.'

After a tumultuous few years prior to David Jones' appointment in 2005, Cardiff City had established themselves in the Championship as a strong side and had gone on a major giant-killing run to Wembley defeating Chasetown, Hereford United, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Middlesbrough and Barnsley en route.

Under Harry Redknapp, Portsmouth had emerged as the Premier League's entertainers and had beaten Ipswich Town, Plymouth Argyle, Preston North End, Manchester United and West Bromwich Albion as they also went on a giant-killing run of their own.
