New Library exhibit features century old posters

They are the words and images that brought a nation together and they are splashed across the third for at the Buffalo & Erie County Central Library. The final touches are being applied to a special exhibit called "Buffalo Never Fails-The Queen City and WWI". Library Director Mary Jean Jakubowski says the exhibit has been two years in the making and "we wanted to bring forth an exhibit to show all the great things that Buffalo was doing during World War One." Feature prominently in the exhibit are the colorful, eye-catching original war time posters that have been locked up in the library's vault for almost a hundred years. According to the project manager Meg Cheman "we have close to two-thousand posters. We'll be showing throughout the exhibit about a hundred original posters." Also showcased in this unique display are personal items on loan, highlighting Western New York's contributions to the war effort. The exhibit will be available for viewing during the Central Library's regular hours. Reproductions of some of the library's collection of posters are available at their website.
