Paul Murphy - "Songs For Emily & Dylan"

A closing down sale, one might say. 27.11.2023. I wrote one final song today, 'Those Days' (there is a 20-minute recital of its lyrics on my channel), and following that I cast caution to the wind and managed to play - kind of - guitar one final time.

This is - loose, shall we say. The voice has gone, and no amount of adjusting the tunings was going to compensate, and the guitar was rudely rudimentary. What the hell, I've been doing this 41 years, if you didn't catch me before this damn disease took me out, that's not my fault! This mini-session was really for my children, and I managed to get through two of my most personally cherished songs, 'Where Does The Sun Go To At Night?' - (most of) the words to which are a poem by my amazingly talented daughter; and 'Love - In All Its Glory', my last-but-one song, a delicate, elegiac love song, written so that it applies on a widescreen level, and here with some words adjusted so it is a thank you song to my wonderful children.

Timestamps are:

00:00 'Love - In All Its Glory'
06:11 'Where Does The Sun Go To At Night?'

NB, the full mini-set had 2 further songs, a slower version of 'Love - In All Its Glory' and an instrumental with harmonica version of 'Where Does The Sun Go To At Night?'. There is a video of the full session on my channel, but the sound quality is lower than here due to a malfunctioning camera mic not mixing the guitar properly.

Dyl and E, I hope you get to see this one day my darlings.

Love - always,

Me
