The Gift of Repentance

The bible considers repentance a "gift" (Acts 11:18, 2 Timothy 2:25). Does repentance seem like a gift to you? We hardly hear popular pastors talking about repentance and we don't want to hear the angry street preachers who do speak of it. How can we receive repentance as a "gift"?
