Woman arrested for masturbating on public beach

Police have released bodycam footage of the arrest of a woman suspected of masturbating on a public beach. The woman, who we will not identify for fear of embarrassment (we’re nice like that), was enjoying herself late one afternoon using an battery-powered marital aid on a beach in Tybee Island, Georgia in full view of the families who merely wanted to enjoy the beach. After hearing the moans, they called the police. The woman, 34, broke down as she was handcuffed and removed from the sexual crime scene and the offending marital aid disarmed and taken in as evidence. She faces a maximum of 12 months in jail for public indecent exposure, although such a harsh punishment is considered unlikely.

Footage of the 2021 incident, released by Georgia police recently, has divided opinion online (because of course it has). Some have criticized the police for their heavy-handed approach to her self-enjoyment, claiming that handcuffing her and arresting her was a bit much, while others have wondered why police were so eager to tackle her misdemeanors rather than go and arrest some rapists and murderers. However, equally as many praised the police for their swift action, pointing out that there were young children present, and that there’s a time and a place for that sort of thing at the beach, and it’s called Spring Break.
