We often hear China referenced in terms of being a leader in the new global push for "...a sustainable future", and clean, renewable energy. And without a doubt, China is currently a major producer of EVs and solar panels. I think something that gets lost in the topic, however, is that China is still pumping out very high levels pollution and they are far from winning the battle against pollution. A case is point is from early in November 2023, Beijing was hit with a cloud of smog that was so devastating that over a hundred flights had to be cancelled (due to poor visibility) and some highways were temporarily closed down, for the same reason.
I sincerely hope that China can find a way to get this under control but I realize that it will be a major challenge for them to do so. And with the ever increasing number of coal power plants opening in China, I'm not sure when the changes will come.
