Two children nearly drowned Tuesday afternoon after they were found in a retention pond by two adults on Indy’s west side. Indianapolis firefighters said a 9-year-old boy went into a neighborhood retention pond around 4 p.m. near Cold Spring Road and Granada Circle but began to drown. His 12-year-old sister, who was also outside, went into the pond to save her brother but could not get him out of the water.
