Haiti is currently undergoing one of the most challenging moments of its recent history. With the sudden and brutal assassination of former president, Jovenel Moise, the French-speaking island has been thrust into a delicate socio-economic and political dilemma.

Nevertheless, some Western newspapers, including the Jamaica Gleaner, have described this relatively peaceful island nation as one of the most dangerous places on earth. Is this a fair description?
