The debate Wednesday night at Simi Valley at the Reagan Library really matters and really matters because it's maybe the last chance for somebody to try to break out of the pack and become a real alternative to President Donald Trump. Frankly, I'm not sure it's possible to really become a real alternative because Trump is now so far ahead in the latest poll on Sunday; he was 43 points ahead of Governor Ron DeSantis, who was in second place.

And DeSantis was like at 14. And the next candidate, Nikki Haley, was at about five. Vice President Pence was about five. So, you know, one of them is either going to catch fire, do really, really well, and begin to have money and support and news media attention or this debate will end and we will drift towards the almost inevitable nomination of President Donald Trump.

Callista and I are going to be watching it. And frankly, you ought to watch it, too.
