GMade Sawback / D90 Land Rover Defender Build Update 2

Well after looking around and seeing that there aren't many GMade Sawback Land Rover Defender builds...I decided to try to tackle it. I'm not going for perfectly scale. I'll keep the non-scale leaf suspension for now because I'm not sure I'm ready to tackle adding links to it yet. Who knows, maybe I'll surprise myself.

Tonight I brought the primed body up to my office workspace to try to figure how to shorten the wheelbase. The specs for the RC4WD D90 body state that it is for a 282mm wheelbase, but the specs for the Gelande II kit say it is a 275mm wheelbase and the latter seems to be right. The GMade Sawback has a 287mm wheelbase and at first I thought it would be easy to trim 5mm, but 12mm was a bit more work.

By turning the shackle mounts and moving the fixed leaf spring mounts, I was able to get very close to the wheelbase I need. I haven't done any permanent drilling yet will wait until I see if the body can be mounted with all the parts. Once I feel happy with it, I'll start drilling the frame and cutting down the rear of the chassis. That's it for part 2. Stay tuned for more build updates.
