In-Depth Review of DBPower Hawkeye II FPV Quadcopter Features

The DBPower Hawkeye II Quadcopter is notable because it is one in a very small selection that offers FPV flying for under $100. I had bought my Syma X5C with the intention of making it an FPV quadcopter, but the cost to do it was more than I expected.Show more

This little quadcopter uses built-in wifi and an app to stream video to your phone which mounts on the transmitter. The video resolution is only 640x480 and isn't great for filming, but it is plenty for the FPV flying I want to do with it.

Along with FPV, you also get the option to fly with the transmitter or using you phone with the app and gyro built into the phone to control it. This took a little while to get used to, but was a very fun option and different take on quadcopter flying.

The Hawkeye II uses a readily available and inexpensive 3.7v 700MaH battery utilized in many of these smaller quadcopters. The camera is able to tilt (not in flight) to adjust viewing angles. Inside the box, you also get a few small screwdrivers and four extra props. The prop guards are a bit flimsy and the props are small and can bend, but they also bend back to normal pretty easily. They look to be the same type of propellers used in many quadcopters this size, but with FPV this seems to be the cheapest option. It handles really well indoors and out. Overall, it seems like a pretty good quadcopter with extra features for the price - understanding that it is toy-grade. I actually see more potential flight time for this over my Syma X5C.
