Ricoh Theta S 360° VR Camera Review

After waiting for the Ricoh Theta S I ordered to be back in stock, it finally shipped and arrived to give me some 360° VR lovin'. This camera is really cool and easy to use. It isn't perfect, but there is a lot to like about it. I've also used a 6 GoPro VR rig with a 360 Heros mount to shoot VR which gives really great results, but it is a beast to work with the footage before you can edit it. The biggest pro about the Ricoh Theta S is the ease of stitching to prep it for editing. Their app does all the work for you. The images are lower resolution and therefore appear soft in comparison, but for YouTubers who want to get their content up quickly, this thing is a breeze. It's also nice that it only has 2 lenses, so there is less room of the stitching to show its ugly head.

Here is a link to two videos I shot with it the first weekend I had it. One is at night to test the low light capabilities and the other has a mixture of outdoor and indoor footage during the day.

Colonial Williamsburg Virtual tour: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DvcNcNPs2Y

San Francisco Cable Car Ride: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0z3FypqvTw

Grave Digger RC Jumping: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHMvySYBYac

Both were shot and edited very quickly.
