Tamiya Unimog Wheelie Build 8 - Gearbox Issue Solved! (Builder Error)

Click to subscribe: http://bit.ly/Sub-CCxRC ☠☠☠ Well the mystery of the Tamiya Unimog First Run FAIL has been solved. I actually love that this happened to me and that it all played out on camera. Sure, I could've not posted the failure video and pretended that everything came out perfectly polished, but that doesn't advance the hobby for us beginners. This is my first build and I was committed to playing it out as it happened on camera.

First, I missed that the kit had come with extra bearings to improve the functionality of the gearbox. I tore it apart and fixed it. Then I got overzealous and put in extra bearings and removed a bushing. Later I needed a bearing and tore apart the gearbox because the pin hole on the axle didn't show through to put on the rear tire. I found the bearing, removed it and just slapped it back together. Apparently there needed to be a spacer, but it wasn't a bearing...it was a metal spacer. During the first run, the gears sounded noisy but I kept running it. Then I went to punch it for a wheelie and nothing happened - other than a loud motor noise. Pulling it apart and looking at the manual quickly revealed my builder error. She's back together properly now and running great. A real first (but actually second) fun video will be shot soon. Thanks for your patience with me during this build.
