Rev 20:13
And the sea gave up the dead which were in it (That’s the people that died in the flood), and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them (people who have died since then); and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds.

Hades, by the way, that term means the grave.

Rev 20:14
And death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.

Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire; sheol is translated as Hades here, it just means the grave, death is personified here. We are told in Isaiah, there's going to be no more death, no more sorrow, that's what's going to be destroyed. Death and the grave have always been man's great enemies, Elohim is going to do away with death and the grave, they are going to be done away with.

Rev 20:15
And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

Literal lake of fire? I don't know, it's likely to be the condition of the earth as its judged, when all things are made new. Isn't that how things are refined? By fire? The second death means eternal and absolute separation from Elohim, it appears to be total annihilation, that's the second death.
