As the oldest living chicken in the world, this 21-year-old hen currently holds the Guinness World Record. A chicken typically has a lifespan of five to ten years. Marsi Parker Darwin and her husband Bill live on a Michigan no-kill farm with dogs, cats, and various birds, including chickens, peacocks, and ducks, who own the chicken named Peanut. The brown-spattered chicken only reached a weight of about a pound—roughly one-third that of some of her other chickens—She was given the name Peanut. ‘Peanut is a sassy little chicken — if she doesn’t get her blueberry yogurt in the morning, I will definitely hear about it,’ The Marsi says. Peanut is still hanging out in Darwin's living room, frequently on her lap, more than 20 years after being peeled from her shell in 2002. The bantam hen is now gaining attention since she has been recognized as the oldest living chicken in the world by Guinness World Records.
