The Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) has confirmed the first positive case of chronic wasting disease (CWD) in a mule deer during the fall of 2023 hunting season. The deer was harvested near New Meadows, marking the first known case of CWD outside of the Riggins area, where the disease was first detected in Idaho in 2021.
