Crew of the 82-mm Tray mortar performing fire missions

Military personnel of the reconnaissance unit of the West group of troops uncovered camouflaged positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kupyansk direction. The detection of Ukrainian Armed Forces units was carried out using unmanned aerial vehicles.

In this case, the military used the 82-mm automatic mortar Tray as a means of destroying and suppressing enemy strongholds and manpower. Mortar crews can operate from both fortified positions and unprepared positions. Due to their dimensions and weight, the Tray mortars can be transported disassembled by crews of four servicemen. The maximum firing range of all available 82 mm mines is 6 km.

Crews of 82-mm mortars literally have a matter of minutes to occupy a firing position, calculate the initial data for firing and fire the first shot. The correctly chosen rate of fire allows you to conduct both harassing fire and keep several kilometers of the front in suspense with one calculation, and conduct targeted suppressive fire.

Such tactics have shown their effectiveness and enable the mortar to remain unnoticed by enemy air and artillery reconnaissance. Thanks to the adjustment of fire by UAV units, high speed and accuracy of hitting targets is achieved. Skillful actions of personnel under the leadership of experienced commanders simultaneously ensure a high degree of destruction and safety for the personnel of the mortar unit.

Firing points are calculated in advance based on enemy targets. The crew only needs a short time to bring the mortar into action, after which the mortars strike with rapid fire with adjustments. After the first shot, the crews begin to work like a well-oiled machine. Whenever possible, crews reduce the distance to the target in order to ensure they reach it. They work on the front line, remaining elusive to the enemy.
