If given the choice, most of us would like to carry out good work: work that is high in quality and also responsible. Yet, even in the best of circumstances, good work is hard to do. And it proves especially challenging at a time when conditions are changing very quickly and market forces are tremendously powerful. Gardner will describe a large scale collaborative study of good work in various professions. He will compare results from the professions of science and journalism. And he will describe the three steps that each person must take if he or she wants to carry out work that is good in both senses of that term.

Educational Objectives:
1) Learn the concept of good work in terms of excellence and ethics.
2) Learn about a large-scale collaborative study of good work in various professions.
3) Understand the three steps that one must take in order to carry out good work.
