On Wednesday, a car in Niagara Falls started speeding at 100 miles/160 km, hit a border checkpoint, and caused an explosion that blocked the entire border crossing.
All Canada/USA border crossings were closed at the time, the the Queenston-Lewiston and Peace Bridge (Fort Erie and Buffalo) were opened. The Amtrak Maple Leaf train line that connects Union Station in Downtown Toronto and Grand Central Station in New York Station has been running again.
Canada/USA border crossings from the Pacific coast to the Atlantic coasts are doing advanced security in case there might be a terrorist attack.
The car crash explosion on the USA side of the border was not a terrorist attack, but both countries are checking if it happens again, from airports, borders, and other forms of crossing into the countries.

The Rainbow Bridge has been closed until the end of the month, November 30, as an investigation continues on what caused the car to accelerate and cause a major explosion that killed the two people in the car and injured a border agent.
If people want to cross over to USA from Canada via Niagara Falls, they will either go across the Queenston-Lewiston or Peace Bridge border crossings.
Those from USA to want to see a better view of the falls will have to go to the Peace Bridge border crossing, as that is the closest route to Niagara Falls from Buffalo.
