A speeding car that crashed and exploded in a deadly fireball on a US-Canada border bridge was not terror-related, New York Governor Kathy Hochul has said.

Two people in the vehicle died and a US border agent was injured when the car crashed at a checkpoint heading from the New York side of the border to Rainbow Bridge.

The crash triggered a major security scare on the eve of Thanksgiving, with the closure of four bridges on the world's longest international border.
