A fatal explosion near the New York-Canadian border, triggered by a car going airborne, is now under investigation by Niagara Falls police as a traffic incident, according to the FBI's statement on Wednesday night. The investigation found no explosives or ties to terrorism.

The incident occurred on the Rainbow Bridge, a vital route into and out of Canada at Niagara Falls, minutes before 11:30 a.m., resulting in the death of two individuals in the vehicle, officials reported.

This incident unfolded on one of the busiest travel days in the U.S., with people nationwide hitting the road for Thanksgiving. Given the heightened awareness during the holiday, the White House closely monitored developments, and the Department of Homeland Security maintained communication with Canadian counterparts.
