The new 2024 BMW R 1300 GS is a motorcycle that combines the best of touring and off-road performance. It features a completely redesigned boxer engine, frame, and suspension, as well as innovative technologies such as BMW ShiftCam, Dynamic Suspension Adjustment, and Riding Assistant.

The boxer engine has a capacity of 1,300 cc and produces 145 hp and 110 lb-ft of torque, making it the most powerful BMW boxer engine ever. It also has BMW ShiftCam technology, which varies the valve timing and valve stroke on the intake side for optimal power and efficiency. The gearbox and clutch are integrated in the engine housing, and the gearbox is located under the engine for a more compact and balanced design. The driveshaft and rear axle have also been newly designed for improved stability and traction.

The frame and suspension of the new R 1300 GS are based on a steel sheet metal shell main frame and a die-cast aluminum rear frame section, which offer high levels of stiffness and reduced weight. The front suspension uses the EVO Telelever system, which has a flex element that decouples the handlebar from the tilting movement of the fork, resulting in greater steering precision and ride stability. The rear suspension uses the EVO Paralever system, which has a stiffer connection to the frame and a continuous swinging arm quick-release axle. The spring travel is 7.5 inches at the front and 7.9 inches at the rear.

The new R 1300 GS also offers optional electronic Dynamic Suspension Adjustment, which dynamically adjusts the damping and spring rate depending on the riding mode, condition, and maneuver. The optional adaptive vehicle height control automatically lowers the seat height at standstill and during slow travel, while the optional sports suspension provides more off-road competence with increased spring travel and a firmer set-up.

The new R 1300 GS comes with standard matrix full LED headlamps, which have a distinctive light icon and offer excellent visibility. The optional Headlight Pro adds an adaptive turning light function, which adjusts the light beam according to the lean angle. The new R 1300 GS also comes with the new Riding Assistant, which includes Active Cruise Control, Front Collision Warning, and Lane Change Warning. These features use a radar sensor to monitor the distance and speed of the vehicle in front and the lanes to the left and right, and provide assistance and warnings to the rider.

The new R 1300 GS features standard Connectivity, including a 6.5-inch full-color TFT screen, which can be controlled by the BMW Motorrad Multi-Controller. The screen displays various information and functions, such as media playback, phone calls, navigation, and riding modes. The screen also has a Sport screen option, which shows additional information such as banking angle, traction, and braking behavior. The new R 1300 GS also has a smartphone charging compartment with a USB-A socket, a 12-volt on-board power socket, and a lithium-ion 12v battery with Battery Guard function.

The new R 1300 GS is available in four model variants: the basic variant in Light White solid paint, the Triple Black variant in black with cast aluminum wheels, the GS Trophy variant in Racing Blue Metallic with cross-spoke wheels, and the Option 719 Tramuntana variant in Aurelius Green Metallic with gold accents and forged wheels. The new R 1300 GS also offers a range of optional equipment and accessories, such as seat heating, Comfort seats, handlebar risers, engine protection bars, Enduro aluminum engine guard, and luggage systems.

The new 2024 BMW R 1300 GS is a motorcycle that sets new standards in the touring enduro segment, with its powerful and efficient boxer engine, its innovative and dynamic suspension, and its advanced and comfortable features. It is the perfect choice for riders who want to enjoy the best of both worlds: on-road and off-road.
