Blue Licks Battlefield, Kentucky across the Ohio River. 1782 11/21/23
As I crossed the Ohio river into Kentucky, I realized where I was. The sight of the "Last Revolutionary War Battle" site. Too earl and rainy to stop.
The Battle of Blue Licks, fought on August 19, 1782. Although ten months after Lord Cornwallis's surrender at Yorktown some areas saw more fighting. 182 Kentucky militiamen US patriots had 72 men killed and 11 captured and the British loyalists had 50 men with 300 Indians has 7 killed and 10 wounded. The Indians knew the area and how to ambush the US patriots. A famous Lt.Col Daniel Boone survived the battle but sadly lost his son Israel Boone. Don't forget to be thankful tomorrow. Many gave their lives for you to enjoy FREEDOM. 11/21/23 Kentucky County, Virginia (at the time)
