Amazon has recently initiated the deployment of its inaugural batch of test satellites

On Friday, Amazon successfully launched its initial pair of prototype satellites for the Kuiper internet network, marking the company's preliminary endeavour in its mission to send numerous other satellites into orbit. This ambitious initiative aims to provide worldwide internet connectivity and establish competition with SpaceX's Starlink.

The launch of the United Launch Alliance Atlas 5 rocket, prominently displaying the Amazon brand, occurred at Cape Canaveral just after 2 p.m. Eastern time. This mission involved the transportation of the two Kuiper test satellites, which had been eagerly anticipated by Amazon and were originally planned to be launched using alternative rockets.

The objective of the mission is to evaluate the initial technological advancements by Amazon in space. This initiative is part of the company's larger plan to launch an additional 3,236 satellites in the near future, with the goal of providing worldwide broadband internet access. This endeavour aligns with the ambitions of SpaceX, led by Elon Musk, who intends to achieve a similar objective with the deployment of approximately 5,000 Starlink satellites now in orbit.
