The Sooke Salmon Enhancement Society has been the hallmark of Vancouver Island’s salmon preservation, long before the term ‘sustainability’ was tossed around in trendy cafes and boardrooms.
The Society was already deep in the trenches of the good fight, decades before. The battlefield? The Jack Brooks Hatchery. Since 1981, this crucial battle has been waged - collecting eggs and milt from adult salmon, to be fertilized and carefully reared, to preserve their future, and ours. They are hope in its most tangible form, nurtured until they are ready to take on the wild.
The hatchery is located on Canada's West Coast, known for its mild climate and relaxed way of life. This region is defined by its ancient rainforests, rugged coastlines, and cool waters of the Pacific Ocean, creating an abundance of outdoor recreation opportunities and peaceful wilderness getaways. The hatchery is a bastion of hope for the Pacific Salmon. They support an plethora of wildlife, from bears, to seals, to Orcas, to the tiniest of organisms in.....

The primary goal of the hatchery is to enhance the local salmon population to maintain the ecological balance. The salmon are a keystone species in the Pacific Northwest. These fish are the cultural and economic lifeblood of the region.
Seaflora is proud to support such a wonderful and significant facility right her in our back yard in Sooke BC. One is not just enhancing salmon populations, but preserving a story, a legacy, that flows as deep and as enduring as the Sooke River itself....
