Today’s guest is Kristen Van Uden. Kristen researches Catholics who survived totalitarianism in the twentieth century. She is especially interested in pursuing this subject through the historiographies of martyrdom, memory studies, and dissident literature. On today’s show we discuss her first book, When the Sickle Swings: Stories of Catholics Who Survived Communist Oppression will be published November 2023.
