Upper Peninsula Lawyer Charged With First-Degree Premeditated Murder

The name of the victim in a fatal shooting in the Upper Peninsula has been released during the arraignment yesterday in Houghton County.

The victim was Theron Duncan, 53, of Houghton.

59-Year-old Even Dixon, of Houghton, has been charged with shooting and killing Duncan on Monday, November 13th in the bathroom of the Douglas House Saloon. Dixon is a lawyer in the Houghton area.

The official charge is first-degree premeditated murder, punishable by up to life in prison.

A substitute judge and an outside public defender are being sought due to the defendant’s local connections as a lawyer.
