Before I get into today’s topic I want to share a quote with you that I wrote on today’s topic!

Death and dying in Intensive Care are not “sexy” topics and it’s not a topic where either the mainstream media or society in general wants to talk about!

If they do talk about death and dying in Intensive Care it’s usually in a hype and sensationalized manner by shining the spotlight on somebody who just died in Intensive Care after an accident, surgery etc… Stories like this certainly don’t tell the bigger picture, nor do they tell people what’s really going on in Intensive Care!

Media stories shine the light on the surface and not on what’s really happening in Intensive Care and especially not on what’s happening “BEHIND THE SCENES”.

When families of critically ill Patients have a loved one dying in Intensive Care they need proven strategies that work to deal with such massive “life or death” issues!

Families in Intensive Care therefore need urgent education on what they need to do in order to make informed decisions, get peace of mind, control, power and influence!

They also need to know if the Intensive Care team is telling them the truth if their loved one is really dying and they most importantly need to know what the Intensive Care team isn’t telling them!
