Transgender women say Pope made them feel ‘more human’

Transgender women in Italy sat down for lunch with Pope Francis on the weekend, participating in marking the church's World Day of the Poor. For women from a run-down beach town near the Vatican, the sit-down represented the culmination of a rapprochement with the Catholic Church that began during the pandemic. Angela Johnston explains.
