WoW Classic: Season of Discovery - Creatively Bankrupt

I was fairly hype for season of discovery when it was announced. I thought we'd be getting something like the Classic+ everyone has been wanting. NOPE.

As Blizzard does, they managed to bungle even this. The bar was so low and they managed to mess it up.

The core concept here is fine. But why is almost every ability just a retail ability? I'm not talking mechanically, though many are, but creatively?
Why just take retail ideas and put them here?

WHERE ARE YOUR NEW IDEAS BLIZZARD?

Why are you making enhancement shaman into the retail shaman????
Why not double down on the unique aspect of its classic version?
Give it new two-handed focused attacks themed around mountains or crashing waves, the might of nature.

NOPE. Instead we get retail shaman but in classic.

Again, I understand that the meta will be shaken up dramatically by a lot of these changes. That's not my point. My point is that they just do not have the ability to make interesting new things anymore.
