BPD seizes loaded gun, makes arrest after traffic stop

Around 7:00 p.m. Saturday Bakersfield Police officers conducted a traffic stop on South Union Avenue near E. Terrace Way. Officers said a passenger in the vehicle, later identified as Andwele Shabazz, 26, ran from the vehicle and threw a loaded firearm on the ground. Police recovered the firearm and Shabazz was arrested for firearm violations and resisting arrest. Anyone with information regarding the incident is encouraged to call BPD at 327-7111.
