November 24, 1987 - Close Call for Race Car Driver Bill Elliott

Two military fighter jets, one carrying champion stock car racer Bill Elliott, collided in flight about 5 miles east of Wadley, Georgia, on Nov. 24, 1987, but authorities said no one was hurt. Elliott, who won NASCAR`s Atlanta Journal 500 Sunday, was on an ``orientation flight.``
