Volusia County Sheriff's Deputy Responds To Domestic Hears Shot Fired

On the morning of 11/14/2023, while responding to a report of a domestic disturbance on a large property off Samsula Drive, Deputy Cusimano heard a gunshot. Without hesitation, he headed toward it.

As he moved closer to the house, the deputy spotted a man on the porch and challenged him. The defendant complied and surrendered without incident. A .500 caliber Smith & Wesson revolver was recovered from the porch.

In the investigation into the domestic incident, deputies learned the defendant caused several bruises on the victim and pointed the revolver at her face during an argument. He was charged with domestic battery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and use of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol, and taken to the Volusia County Branch Jail where he was held without bond.
